♡ asian eye makeup tutorial + how to work on your selfie game ♡

a very quick step-by-step of how i do my makeup! check it out under the cut <3

the beginning! no makeup besides bb cream & mineral powder

i like to start out with a thin line running from the inner corner to slightly past the outer edge of my eye, extending its perceived outline. i use revlon colorstay liquid liner because it has a felt tip that's fairly pressure-sensitive and the ink itself has decent staying power while washing off relatively easily.

a close-up of the next step:
i flick the very tip of the pen, decreasing the pressure as i extend the line outwards to make a small wing. then i outline the bottom edge of my eye, connecting the top and bottom lines so that the entire eye is delineated. mac eyeliner pencil in black ice is the least-smudgy and has the best staying power that i know of.

(alternately, if you're going for a softer, less starkly-outlined look, use a brown pencil for the bottom rim and smudge it a bit to blend it in.)

you can see there's already a dramatic difference between a plain eye and one with eyeliner.

next step! using a small brush, add a thin line of light-colored eyeshadow (i actually used the highlight shade from milani's brow fix kit) underneath the bottom of your eye, near the center and extending a little bit out. blend it in with a clean brush or your finger so it's not too shiny. this step makes your eyes seem even bigger.

done! i finished off with a coral shade of obsessive compulsive lip tar and fixed my brows with the milani brow powder kit & brow gel.

how to take a good selfie

lighting is the crucial ingredient to a great selfie. a bright, direct light washes out blemishes and helps makeup stand out cleanly.
all of the selfies i took for this post used no filters!

after you find good lighting, the only thing left is to figure out what angles you like best--it takes patience and a lot of outtakes.
most importantly though, is loving yourself, whether you're wearing makeup or not <3
